Half 70 1/3 Course

Half Swim Course

Swim Course - Bear Lake has some of the bluest waters West of the Caribbean Ocean. However, unlike the Caribbean sea, you are recommended to wear a wetsuit because the temperatures for this race have ranged from 60 to 68 degrees. The route for the Half Swim is a diamond-shaped swim with four buoys. This is a counter-clockwise swim. The first buoy is 250 meters, the next 232, the next 232, then 250 meters again. This entire diamond is done twice, giving you the 1.2 Mile swim needed to complete this course. Because Bear Lake can be choppy occasionally, we reserve the right to alter the design for safety. The swim is done in waves. No chip start, so everyone in that wave will start at the same time. Chips will be used for clocking transitions and finishing. We use a strong lifeguard team on a combination of wave runners, boats, and kayaks.

Half Bike Course

Half Bike Route - Bike Route will start at the transition area near the Swim area. Cyclists will ride their bikes clockwise around the lake. The lake is 50.2, and in order to get the full 56 miles, we added an additional 5.8 mile out and back after you finish the loop around the lake. You will ride with traffic on the lake side of the road. (No going on bike lanes). You will have an aid station at Mile 16 and Mile 38. These will have water and powerade and an Aid Station Kit, which includes Bandaids, Feminine Napkins, Muscle Rub, and Body Lube. Each aid station will also have a potty. Though the route is primarily flat there are rollers on the East side of the lake.

Half Run Course

Half Run Course - The run course is an out and back course that starts at transition. Because cyclists will be on the west side of the road, the runners will be on the East side of the road, both directions out and back. This route does have a road with a few climbs up and down. Around Mile 6, the road turns to dirt for .55 miles and then turns around and back on the paved road around mile 7. Aid stations are at Mile 1.55, 3.1, 4.7, 6.55, same back. They have water, Powerade, GU Gels, Candy, and Salty treats. At mile 6.55, there is Decarb Coke. They also have an aid station kit, which includes Band-Aids, feminine napkins, muscle rub, and body lube. They each have a porta-potty as well.
